EF series plain bearings Introduction

The side flange integrated in the bearing housing allows the bearing to be mounted directly on the nameplate. The surface of the housing is optimally finned for excellent natural cooling characteristics. The EF type is particularly suitable for motors that do not have their own bearing foundation or matching alignment work. However, the nameplate must be torsion-resistant and able to absorb the bearing loads.

Compared to pedestal bearings, the bearing clearance is significantly shorter, resulting in a more robust rotor construction. Self-adjusting, floating labyrinth seals are standard and are used to seal the shaft on the hidden side of the machine.

We recommend chamber seals in cases of increased lubricant circulation or special specifications. Access through the interior of the machine must be provided to enable fitting and adjustment of these seals. Type EF is the most popular design for electric motors, thanks to the numerous advantages it offers. Type EF side flange mounted bearings are less suitable for machines with sensitive rotor dynamics and/or rotors with supercritical speeds. In this case, the ER, EG and EM housing versions offer more favorable conditions
